Client: Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB
Sector: Agriculture | Conservation

This project involves sites designated for ecological importance and form part of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB.

The ambition is to draw on the natural benefits of conservation grazing and the quality produce derived from this unique landscape, to create a purposeful brand that is readily identified by consumers for its sense of place and proven sustainability values such as provenance, biodiversity, low carbon production and how it supports local communities.

A critical aspect of the project is to create an overarching brand and criteria to assess how farmers and producers are working towards sustainability credentials. These criteria will form the substance of, and give meaning to, the overarching brand.  Whereby the brand is underpinned by a set of goals and a method of progressing towards these goals.

Client: Community Food Co-ops
Sector: Social enterprise

Community Food Co-ops in Wales provide healthy and affordable food to those that most need it – whilst providing much-needed access to the market, and a straightforward distribution process for regional suppliers and local producers. Run as a social enterprise and volunteer-led there were over 300 Co-ops active across Wales in 2016. The programme was established with Welsh Government funding to deliver multiple policy objectives on health and well-being, tackling food poverty and aiding rural development.

Working closely with the team to develop an award-winning 10-point sustainability plan. This enabled them to monitor, evaluate and improve their performance against the goals of the Well-Being of Future Generations (Wales) Act, whilst demonstrating a return on investment to their funders and enabling many co-ops to run independently.

Client: Welsh Government
Sector: Food & drink | Supply Chain

The Sustainable Business Review was initially developed for Welsh Government in 2015-2021. It is an online resource and self-assessment tool that has helped over 180 food and drink suppliers to define and report their sustainability credentials. It contains 21 indicators that align with legislation, industry standards and CSR objectives of trade buyers. It enables SMEs to report their environmental and social performance and identify where they can take-action to improve, and enables trade buyers such as Brakes and the NHS, to gauge the sustainability of suppliers in their supply chain.
